INSOMNIA
This week the Sisterwives were honored to have Matticus guest post twice. The first post was about the perception of cowardice and the second was about insomnia. Today I have an extra surprise for the SisterWives community; a poetic duet titled Insomnia written by Matticus and I.
Written by Matticus and Hastywords
Tip-toeing through mind’s shadows,
Desperate to avoid the dangling drop,
And tightening noose of the gallows:
The dark memories that refuse to stop.
Thoughts, like ants, cover every surface
The walls and ceilings alive with rumors
A bizarrely unorganized mental circus
Insomnia, playing its endless maneuvers
To toss and battle or turn and retreat,
There is too much chaotic crawling to ignore,
Even flight would require a rising beat,
Indecisiveness furthers the internal war.
Yesterday visits needlessly unresolved
Twisting the debris inside my mind
Into this raging storm, anxiety evolved
Now hastier than the tick tock’s grind
The whole world’s weight chokes off the air,
The past, the dark, the unknown, conspire,
Suffocation is no longer too much to bare,
Its final and full relief become the main desire.
Sunrise begins to splatter patterns onto the ceiling
Where a few moments before my eyes had laid
My mind liberated once again from constant reeling
And another sigh escapes my lips as the shadows fade

And, Hasty, this is far and away my favorite of our duets. But, you already knew that. 😉

Hooray! I’m glad you liked it.
Hasty gets credit for the idea of doing a duet in response to yesterday’s post.
I’ll take credit for those lines. I was pretty happy with the images they create, the feelings they stir, too.

Wait!!! Does comparing my words to magic mean… *gasp* … I’m a wizard!!!!!!???
It totally does, right?
No take backs!! I’m no longer the jester of the Matticus Kingdom, now I’m the court magician! Sweet!

Can I dub thee a wizard? I don’t see why not 😀

Day = made.
So, uh, thanks for that.
Though “thanks” just doesn’t quite seem to cut it as an appropriate word to describe the event… It will have to do. For now.
That may be a threat.
Muahahahahaha
Wait…. not a threat in a bad way. A threat in relation to good things to come.
I think.
I should stop typing, I’m starting to confuse even myself.
But, don’t worry, it will all make sense in the end because I’m THE WIZARD!

Oh! So not just A wizard, but THE wizard! Awesome.
I didn’t know that my powers of bestowal were so incredible! I wonder what I could bestow NEXT! Ohhhhh I so, SO want to bestow stuff now.
I hereby dub Hasty the FairyQueen of Words, because she’s magic with them.
What else…I have that fever you get on Christmas day when you’re six and you feel like it’s NOT POSSIBLE THAT YOU UNWRAPPED EVERYTHING ALREADY! I want to dub more people, more dubbing MORE DUBBING!

First Tinkerbell and now FairyQueen? Well, I will take it because I love them both 🙂

Each of the SisterWives needs a dubbing. NEEDS! Can you keep Samara’s PG? That’s more a question than a request… I guess you could do a dubbing for Jaded, because she is awesome. Oh… and you might as well bestow a dubbing upon Art. At this point, if you don’t, he’ll just dub himself with something anyway.

I don’t know Jaded so well (to my shame). Can I just dub Samara as ‘She Who [censored]’? It covers so much…
I SHOULD SO DUB ART!
ART! CAN YOU HEAR ME???
I dub thee Sir Cheeralot – a Knight of the Order of Togetherness

Samara and Art’s dubbings are perfect!!!!
And you should really get on that Jaded deficiency. She’s got talent and passion. Plus, that whole awesomeness I referenced earlier.

You’re selling her well 🙂 If you rate her, I’ll check her out. I’ve noticed her around but somehow our paths have never crossed.

I think a lot of that, for me, is the claustrophobia that I feel (felt) when fighting insomnia. It would grow and grow and grow as the night dragged on and the darkness would press in on me.

Reblogged this on The Matticus Kingdom and commented:
I finished off my visit with The SisterWives this week with a poetic duet with the one and only Hasty. It’s a follow up to the Insomnia post yesterday and it is, in my opinion, one of the best poetic endeavors I’ve been a part of. Pop on over and give it a read.

It’s almost uncomfortable for me to read words like this about insomnia, because they capture it so well. I love the two of you writing together. It’s one of my favorite duet pairings yet.
And yes, I DO like Wizard for Matticus and Fairy Queen of Words for Hasty.
Not so sold on ‘She Who [Censored}’ for me! For such an imaginative group, is that really the best we can do???

Well, Lizzi is in charge of official dubbings, so you’ll have to take it up with her.
