Tomorrow, everyone’s favorite Dilettante, the inimitable Helena Hann-Basquiat, will reveal her true identity to all the world.

You will be ASTOUNDED!

We were.

Pseudonyms are a long, honorable literary tradition.

Stephen King began his literary career writing as Richard Bachman because back in the 1970’s, publishers didn’t want to publish more than one novel a year by the same author.

The Brontë Sisters originally published as three brothers with the names Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell because, back then, men were more likely to be published than women

To break free from the restrictions of her reputation as the master of gothic-horror-vampire fiction, Anne Rice wrote romance/erotica novels under two pen names, Anne Rampling and A.N. Roquelaure.

J. K. Rowling was famously exposed as the real person behind newbie crime novelist Robert Galbraith after publishing The Cuckoo’s Calling last year.

Helena Hann-Basquiat has claimed, from the very beginning, that this was not only a pseudonym, but a fictional character. But Helena is not simply a name on a book or a blog. She is a person who has formed real relationships in the blog world – or relationships she would like to become real. Which is why she has decided to unmask herself.

This was not an easy decision for her to make. Nor has it been easy for the Sisterwives.

Nothing so far has divided us this way. Some of us were flummoxed by the reveal, some were gleeful, some went back and forth. BUT – we all remain united in our determination that this blog is a safe space for people to share tough stories. We recognize that stepping out from behind the mask of Helena and being open, in person, for the first time as her creator, is an act of bravery and we honor that, as a group, by publishing this reveal.

We hope that the author’s courage will be received with the respect it deserves.

Stay tuned for the Big Reveal – tomorrow. 8:30 am, EST.
